It’s a Knockout in Colchester

Published 27 July 2012

St Helena Hospice’s fun-filled It’s a Knockout event will now be held on Sunday 30th September at the Tendring Enterprise Studio School on the Clacton and Tendring Learning and Skills Campus, Jaywick Lane.

Just like the classic TV game show, It’s a Knockout promises to be a fantastic day full of funny and entertaining games involving inflatable obstacle courses, costumes, water and foam. It’s a great challenge for corporate team building, community groups, friends or even a hen or stag party with a difference!

Due to the physical nature of the event, teams should be made up at least ten people, with a minimum age of 16. Ten teams will compete in the morning at 10am and ten in the afternoon starting at 1pm. The event is free to enter, with the Hospice only asking teams to raise a minimum sponsorship of £500. All proceeds will go straight towards the work of St Helena Hospice.

Spectators are welcome to come along and watch and there will be ample parking available. This year the event is being partnered by Dream 100 who will be encouraging people to get on board and take part in the fun. Dream 100 will also be compering the event on the day.

Olivia Tostevin, Dream 100 Daytime Presenter said, “We’re delighted to be involved in this year’s It’s a Knockout for such a wonderful organisation. Dream 100 loves to support events in our local area and we can’t wait to see the teams getting messy – all in the name of charity!”

Nadine Mc Fadden from the Tendring Enterprise Studio School said, “The Tendring Enterprise Studio School is a brand new school opening Sept’12 on at Tendring and Colchester Skills and Learning Campus in Jaywick Lane. As with all of the AET academies, our contribution to and active involvement in Charity work is very important to our philosophy and values.

We are proud that our staff and students are able to have such a significant involvement in the planning and hosting of this wonderful event. When our partner Clacton Coastal Academy has held similar events in the past they have always proved to be a great success and highly rewarding for everyone involved.

Our staff and students are very excited about this wonderful opportunity and are looking forward to a fabulous fun day whilst helping to raise funds and awareness for the outstanding work of St Helena Hospice.”

Kate Alden, Community and Events Manager at St Helena Hospice, commented, “It’s a Knockout is such a great event for teams to get together and have a a giggle while raising money for charity. We’re looking forward to seeing a wide variety of groups taking part, be it work colleagues, friends or even hen parties. There’s even a Hospice Fundraising team taking part looking for a bit of healthy competition, so come on and sign up now!”
