Greta Kachkouche is Manager at Yates’s in Colchester. She tells us about her varied role at the fun-filled pub and where in Colchester she likes to hang out.
1 So, what brought you to Colchester?
I came to Colchester just under two years ago when I transferred from a Yates’s in Surrey. It was a fast decision and move as it was quite out of the blue!
2 Tell us about your role at Yates's.
Well, my role involves pretty much everything! It ranges from dispensing drinks to serving food (sometimes even cooking food!), marketing, promotion and advertising. I organise a team of approximately 30. As we are so diverse there is lot to organise and deliver.
3 What's a typical day like for you?
Because of the type of industry I am in, no day is the same, which is great. Days and nights are obviously very different, and Yates’s is such a chameleon venue. I get to have a chat during the morning and lunch-time period whilst serving a pint of ale, hot food or hot drinks to our office workers, families, students or regulars. At night it’s a matter of ensuring we are serving hundreds of people as quick as we can and ensuring that they have a fun but safe night.
4 What's your top spot for a bite to eat?
I currently have two favourites for food – I enjoy a panini and coffee from Loofer’s, or dinner at milsoms – which is lush!
5 Where do you go to unwind?
Unwind time for me is going out for a drink, then dinner and then on to a bar with great music to boogie to!
6 Or for a memorable night out?
I enjoy going to London as I grew up in North London and have spent many a great night out with great friends in lots of bars and clubs!
7 What would you spend your last tenner on?
My last tenner would most definitely go on potato wedges with cheese and beans and a Jager Bomb!
8 What would be your ideal date?
Meeting for a cocktail, posh nosh then wherever the night took us!
9 We'd make you mayor for a day if we could. How would you use your powers?
I’d like to see everyone being happy and smiling for just one whole day!
10 If this was your last day on Earth, what would you do?
I’d spend the day with my partner and do something crazy!
Visit Yates’s at 1-3 Head Street, Colchester CO1 1NX, www.weareyates.co.uk/colchester, 01206 710471.
